Academy District 20 recognizes and celebrates the work of students to obtain proficiency in English and another language by adopting the Seal of Biliteracy for High School Diplomas. Starting with the 2022-23 school year, students who meet requirements for proficiency will be awarded the Seal of Biliteracy on their official student transcript. Requirements
Demonstrate proficiency or higher in English by completing all the English Language Arts required for graduation with an overall GPA of least 3.0 or higher in the required ELA courses and one of the requirements listed below:

AP English Language & Composition or English Literature and Composition

Proficiency Demonstration
Demonstrate proficiency or higher in a language other than English by achieving one of the following:
Option/Minimum Passing Score
World Language AP Advanced Placement
3 or higher
World Language International Baccalaureate (SL or HL) Exam
4 or higher
4-year high school course of study of a single World Language
Overall GPA 3.0 or higher
Achieving a passing score on a nationally recognized test (AAPPL Test Form B offered in district)
