Please follow these steps the first time you connect your Academy District 20 laptop to the internet. After completing these steps, your internet connection should be saved. You will then only need to log in with your username and password to begin using the internet.
Connecting to Wi-Fi
- Turn on the computer.
- Click the internet icon to view available networks.
- Select your home network from the list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi network password.
- Ensure Connect Automatically is selected.
- Click Connect.
- You should see a Wi-Fi icon in the lower right corner of your screen indicating connection.
Troubleshooting Connectivity Issues
If you receive an "Internet Access Blocked" message when browsing on your student laptop, try the following steps. If problems persist, contact your school’s technology department.
- Restart the device and reconnect to your network.
- If issues continue, try connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot to determine if your home network settings are causing the problem.
- Ensure no VPNs are active on the computer.
- Verify that the date and time settings are accurate.
- If connection issues persist, see your District Technology Technician at your school for additional troubleshooting.
If you are still unable to access the internet after five minutes, email help@asd20.org or call your school.
Recommended Shutdown Procedure
To prevent the "Internet Access is Blocked" message and ensure your network connection is properly severed when not in use, shut down your laptop at the end of each school day.
To shut down your laptop:
- Click the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen.
- Click the power icon above the Start button.
- Select Shut down.
