Preschool Application

Before You Apply

• School Choice is not available for preschool students. To attend Preschool in Academy District 20, you must reside within our district.

• Preschool students must have independent toileting skills; pull-ups are not allowed.

• If your student is 5 years old before Oct. 1 of the current school year, they will be enrolled in Kindergarten.

Step 1: Apply for Preschool

If you believe your student has developmental delays, visit our Child Find page before applying.

Four-Year-Olds

• Families wishing to enroll a four-year-old must apply on the UPK Colorado website. Students must be four years old by Oct. 1.

Three-Year-Olds with an IEP

• Please contact our Preschool office for enrollment information.

Three-Year-Olds without an IEP

• Families may apply for our tuition-based Preschool program by completing Academy District 20's Tuition-Based Preschool Application for 3-Year-Olds (see Related Links on this page). There is a $55 non-refundable application fee.
• Applications received at the preschool office between Jan. 12 and Jan. 30, 2026, will be entered into a lottery until capacity is reached. Selected applicants will be notified by March 17, 2026. Remaining applications and those received after Jan. 30 will be added to the Interest list.
• Tuition is $260 per month for four half days per week, Monday through Thursday. Each session lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes, totaling 11 hours per week.
• Payments are due on the first day of each month, starting in September and running through May. No invoices will be sent.
• Openings are limited, times vary by site, and some schools may charge additional fees.
• Students must be three years old by Oct. 1.

Step 2: Accept Your Match or Placement

• If you applied via UPK Colorado:

  • Accept the match offer provided by UPK Colorado by following their instructions.
  • The matching process considers available spaces, district residency, returning students, and other factors.
  • This process may take up to four weeks to ensure the best fit.

• If you applied for tuition-based Preschool with Academy District 20:

  • If accepted, you will receive an email with detailed information and next steps.

Step 3: Register Your Student

• Once notified of acceptance (via UPK or Academy District 20), you must register your student with Academy District 20 within two weeks.
