About the High Trails Program

High Trails is a core part of the sixth-grade curriculum in Academy District 20 (ASD20), offering a three-day, two-night outdoor education experience in Florissant, Colorado.

Each ASD20 middle school attends High Trails for one assigned week in the fall. Teachers and administrators accompany students and work alongside High Trails staff to deliver a hands-on, standards-based learning experience.

Students explore key middle school subjects including ecology, history, conservation, geology, astronomy and outdoor skills, while building responsibility, self-reliance, leadership and friendships.
