All assets remain the property of Academy District 20.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>There is an annual $60 fee for this device. The fee supports the sustainability of an equitable 1:1 District Provided Device for all students in grades 3-12. Additionally, repair of a one-time accidental damage is covered.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>A device will be checked out to students in grade 3-12 within the first week of attendance. Students grade 5-11 will take their device with them over summer breaks and between other district schools.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>The fee payment will be displayed in Infinite Campus immediately regardless of the payment method. Parent\u002Fguardians should receive a payment confirmation email at time of payment. The school bookkeeper can log in to Infinite Campus to see payment information.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Students should not place any permanent personalization materials on their device, case or any other district owned equipment. This includes but is not limited to stickers, paint, permanent markers, etc. The equipment needs to be returned in its original aesthetic condition.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Parent\u002Fguardians can elect to have the device remain at school. However, this is not a recommended practice since students may need the device if the learning environment changes or for homework, research, etc.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>A DPD is not permitted to leave the country. There are certain rules\u002Flaws with US and Foreign custom services that prohibit this.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>All content on grades K-12 DPD’s will be filtered by grade level, even when on a non-district network. The district makes reasonable efforts to block and filter material and information that is harmful to minors in accordance with the Children’s Internet Protect Act (CIPA).\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>\u003Cstrong>Damage to the Device\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>If the annual fee is paid and the damage is a one-time accident, the district will repair the device at no additional cost. If the damage was negligent or more than one time, a fine for the repairs will be assessed to the student in Infinite Campus. The student should notify the teacher or District Technology Technician (DTT) if their device is damaged and\u002For needs repair as soon as possible. Do not wait to get the device repaired.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>If the annual fee is not paid prior to damage, a fine for the actual cost of the damage will be charged.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>The district has added cases to all 3120 and 3140 and screen protectors to all 3140 student devices. If a student removes the case or screen protector the $60 usage fee will not cover the cost of the damage.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>All equipment checked out to the student is the student's sole responsibility. The parent\u002Fguardian will be responsible for the full cost of the repair or replacement cost of the device or components. Hardware prices fluctuate frequently. The replacement device may be a different model.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>\u003Cstrong>Lost\u002FStolen\u002FNot Returned\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>The $60.00 fee covers a one-time repair for accidental damage and does not apply to lost or stolen devices or components. In the event of a lost or stolen device or component, a fine up to $515 will be assessed for the full replacement cost. Parents are required to file a police report with the Colorado Springs Police Department and submit a copy to their school district's Technology Technician (DTT). While this may aid in the recovery of the device if it is sold to pawn shops, it does not eliminate the fine imposed on the parent or guardian.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Even if the $60.00 fee has been paid, any items not returned (device, device case, or power supply), a fine for the items will be charged to the student account in Infinite Campus.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>\u003Cstrong>Reduced Fees\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Families utilizing the Free and Reduced program must complete the required application including the Release of Information form which allows the Free and Reduced status to be shared for reducing the DPD fee. A SWAAAC device issued to a student does not incur an annual fee.
