The District differentiates the per student funding amount for each school according to level. Currently, discretionary school budgets are based upon $156.50 per student at the elementary level, $184.50 per student at the middle level, and $222.50 per student at the high school level. It is important to note that Briargate Preschool, Home School Academy, Journey K8, and Village High School are funded with flat dollar amounts as a result of their unique characteristics.

As a result of the site-based nature of ASD20, principals determine how to best utilize these discretionary dollars to meet the needs of their particular school communities. In their final report, the committee recommended that a broader discussion be conducted to review the process by which fiscal resources are allocated to schools to account for individual school characteristics such as age of school, level of student choice, free/reduced lunch status, etc., in order to create a distribution of resources throughout the District that accounts for varying levels of need.

Goal Statement

The School Resource Allocation Committee is charged by the Superintendent to use the collaborative input model to study current school allocation methods and develop recommendations concerning any new allocation strategies that factor in differences across schools.
