You don't need to re-apply for School Choice as long as your student remains in that path of schools. If you want to move to a school outside of this path of schools, even if it's back to your neighborhood school, you'll need to re-apply.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Out-of-District Students\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>If you'd like your student to attend an Academy District 20 school, but you reside outside our \u003Ca  href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fschools.asd20.org\u002Fmap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">boundaries\u003C\u002Fa>, you'll need to apply for School Choice.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>If your out-of-district student is already attending an Academy District 20 school via School Choice, but is transitioning from elementary to middle school (5th to 6th grade), or from middle to high school (8th to 9th grade), you'll need to re-apply.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch3>Non-participating Schools\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>While most Academy District 20 schools accept School Choice applications, there are a few exceptions. While selecting a second choice school is not required, we encourage you to do so during the application process in case your first choice school is unavailable.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>Application Acceptance & Considerations\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>Students are accepted based on space availability and in the following priority order:\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Col>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>In-district students with siblings already attending the school selected\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>In-district students with no siblings attending the school selected\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Out-of-district employee students\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Returning out-of-district students\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>New out-of-district students\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Fol>\u003Cp>Our School Choice application process automatically considers if you have siblings already attending your chosen school.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>If more students apply than the number of openings available, a lottery is held following the same priority order.\u003Cstrong> \u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Step 1: Submit an Application\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>This application process is entirely online.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>The application will be available on this page when the School Choice application window opens.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Applications are processed in a manner that ensures fairness, not based on the order in which they are received. Each application is evaluated based on the same criteria to ensure that every applicant has an equal opportunity, regardless of when they submit their application.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>Step 2: After the Application\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Once your application is submitted you will receive an email confirmation from our Central Registry Office containing any additional instructions or next steps.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>If you wish to change your School Choice selection, or revert back to a neighborhood school, a new School Choice application must be submitted during the School Choice application dates.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>Step 3: Register Your Student After Approval\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Once your School Choice application is approved, you must \u003Ca  href=\"\u002Fregister\u002Fregister-your-student\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">register your student\u003C\u002Fa>.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Chr>\u003Ch2>Important Terms\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>School Choice Application\u003C\u002Fstrong>: The process a parent\u002Fguardian must complete for their student to attend a school that is \u003Cstrong>not\u003C\u002Fstrong> the school assigned to their address.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Register\u003C\u002Fstrong>: The School Choice application does not include student registration.
